Reiki sessions begin with an assessment of your emotional, mental, and physical wellbeing. We will discuss what you would like to achieve during the session, and set positive intentions. The goal of treatment  is to remove any blockages, restore balance, and support your overall wellbeing. During your Reiki session, you will remain fully clothed, and lie on a massage table, or be seated in a chair.  The practitioner will facilitate the flow of energy, and work above or lightly touching the surface of the body. Reiki treatments are generally subtle, or lightly perceived, and vary in intensity between individuals. The practitioner and client do not exchange or absorb each other’s energy, whereby treatments are energetically safe.  Although Reiki is subtle, the actual healing can be profound.

Reiki is a natural system of healing developed by Mikao Usui in Japan in the early 1900’s. Reiki is a Japanese term which consists of two words: Rei- meaning Universal energy or Divine consciousness, and Ki - translated as Life force energy.  Together Reiki is understood as Universal Life Force energy.    Mikao Usui developed the Reiki system as a path for spiritual development and for natural healing.

In many Eastern traditions, Ki, also known as Qi in China, or Prana in India, must flow freely throughout the body for optimal emotional and physical health. If we suffer spiritual, emotional or physical trauma, the flow of Ki becomes blocked, and may cause illness to develop.  Reiki is able to dissolve energy blockages in the body thus allowing the system to heal itself. Reiki works on physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual levels as well as across time and space.

If you feel drawn to using Reiki as a path for spiritual development and a means to heal yourself and others, you may consider becoming attuned to Reiki energy. Reiki is passed on from the Reiki Master to the student by means of attunements (Western Tradition) or empowerments (Japanese Tradition). This enables the student to access and use the energy. Although the attunements / empowerments will establish a permanent energy connection for the student, it is up to the student to practice daily in order to nurture and enhance this connection.  As a Reiki Master Practitioner and Teacher, I offer individual and group attunements to any of the three Reiki degrees upon request.  Each course covers a wide curriculum, but I can adapt the format to fit you and your personal requirements.

Shoden (First Degree): The first degree has a focus on self healing, and it is very beneficial for students to become attuned to the Reiki energy in order to take charge of their own healing process. You will also be opened to channel Reiki energy for others and hence able to treat family and friends, even pets and plants. The first degree Reiki attunement can be a powerful life changing experience, setting in motion a process of growth and transformation on all levels - physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.

Okuden (Second Degree): The second degree will deepen your connection with the Reiki energy. It gives you access to three symbols and their corresponding mantras.  This will greatly enhance the energy you cultivate and allow you to send healing into the past and future and to do distant healings.  This level is the miminum requirement for professional practitioners.

Shinpiden (Third Degree): In my lineage, the third degree is a combined Master and Teacher degree, which gives not only access to the master symbol but also enables the initiate to give attunements to others and teach. The Master degree amplifies the power of your Reiki and should not be entered into lightly.  It requires the commitment to continued study, practice and personal spiritual growth.

All energy therapies are based on the understanding that we are more than just our physical bodies. They are part of an emerging new paradigm in healthcare, which includes 'energy medicine' and 'energy psychology' - a paradigm based on Quantum physics and the premise that matter ultimately consists of energy. Chinese and Indian traditions have described the subtle structures of our energetic anatomy such as chakras and acupuncture meridians for millennia.

Unresolved difficulties, stresses and trauma can create blockages on any level of the Human Energy Field, which may result in spiritual, mental or emotional problems and hence may manifest in the physical body as disease. Energy therapies offer us effective tools to identify and dissolve such blockages wherever they occur. Therefore, they are not only helpful in preventing illness, but also an important means to address the root cause of any existing state of disease or unease. The natural flow of energy always moves towards health and wellbeing. Eliminating the causes of disease from the deepest layer allows balance to be restored.
